Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Peter Corroon has chosen Rep. Sheryl Allen, a Bountiful Republican, to join him on the Democratic ticket this fall in a special election. The Salt Lake County mayor is challenging Gov. Gary Herbert who took office in August after Jon Huntsman resigned to become the U.S. ambassador to China. Cache County Democratic Party Chairman Vince Wickwar says Corroon will be bringing his new runningmate to Logan this afternoon. A “meet and greet” has been planned for 3 p.m. in front of the Historic Cache County Court House, 200 North Main, and everyone is invited to meet Corroon and Allen. “And of course, in that location, there’s plenty of parking behind the courthouse on that block,” Wickwar says. “We would like a very nice crowd there to welcome Peter and his runningmate.” Wickar says it looks like the weather will be good but if’s not the event will be moved inside the Court House.
