Olsen explains reason for proposed anti-gay discrimination ordinance

Should Logan City enact an ordinance protecting gay people from discrimination in housing and employment? That’s an issue that could come up for discussion at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Logan Municipal Council. Councilmember Herm Olsen says he was asked to bring up such a proposed ordinance by the local chapter of Mormons for Equality and Social Justice. “This is simply trying to bring us into line with the positions that both the people in Salt Lake and the LDS church felt comfortable with,” Olsen says. “So I’m comfortable with it.” The Council meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and the proposed workshop issue is expected to come up at about 6:15.
