Tourism professionals to get ‘hands-on’ experience in Logan

The 7th Annual Utah Tourism Conference will be held Wednesday through Friday, May 12-14 at the Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan. The conference will coincide with National Travel and Tourism Week.Nationally-recognized speakers will be in Logan and the agenda includes discussions on Utah’s scenic byways, the changing landscape of outdoor recreation, strategic marketing and customer service.The host city traditionally plans an opening night social and Julie Hollist, Executive Director of the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau, says she has planned an evening at the American West Heritage Center with hands-on activities.”They’ll get to do everything from archery, to throwing hatchets, to learning how to rope, to even having a quick draw gun contest,” Hollist says. “We’ll eat out there and just have a lot of entertainment and fun, really showcase our heritage out there at the American West Heritage Center. “Then, none of the other conferences have ever done a second evening activity, but I really want to emphasize the importance of the arts to our community. So on the second evening we will be having a social on the stage of the Ellen Eccles Theatre.”Hollist says at least 22 different arts organizations will get to showcase everything from pottery and ceramics to fine arts and DVDs of performances.
