Motorcycle ride to benefit wife of former officer

A motorcycle benefit ride in memory of the onetime President of the local Christian Motorcycle Association is scheduled for Sunday, May 16. Shelly Camp, a retired Las Vegas policeman living in Logan, died April 25 from the effects of a stroke. “Shelly and his wife Kathy moved to Logan about four years ago,” said Karen McKay of the local Christian riding group. “Shelly had been through here before and just fell in love with Logan. Kathy and Shelly rode with us, they had a beautiful Honda Gold Wing.” McKay said Shelly’s death has left Kathy with several medical bills and the Christian Motorcycle Association hopes to help her through this fundraiser. Registration for the event is noon Sunday at Saddleback Harley Davidson on North Main in North Logan. This benefit ride is a Poker Run and registration price is $10 a card with $5 for additional cards. A $5 donation is requested for the meal at the end of the run Logan’s Willow Park. “In a poker run it’s like playing poker,” said McKay. “You have five cards or five hands and every stop on the ride you get points and the person with the best hand at the end wins. The ride starts at 12:30 p.m. and goes through Preston, Malad, Tremonton, Brigham City and then back to Logan.
