Logan’s First Presbyterian Church revives a tradition Friday and Saturday, June 4-5, with “Broadway and Brownies”. The event begins at 7 p.m. in Bruner Hall at the church on the corner of Center Street and 200 West. Leecia Bloss is coordinator of the two-night event. “In past years the church has presented ‘Almost Broadway’ which was a fundraiser so that we could fund the renovation of the church. Now the renovation is complete and we need to reduce the debt. So, we’re celebrating in our new, improved Bruner Hall with Broadway tunes, our bell choir and our praise band. We hope to give folks a lovely evening of entertainment. Our children are going to be performing as well.” Bloss said said the admission price should please everyone. “You’ll get in free,” she said, “there will be no admission charge and you’ll have brownies and cookies for dessert and, gosh, we’d like you to give a donation on your way out.” Bloss said that is another way of asking attendees to “Feed the Pig.” “I don’t know where they found it, it was many years ago. It’s a huge glass pig and when First Presbyterian Church had their fundraisers before they would have the glass pig out and people would be very generous and put in a donation that would help us out, to get where we are now.” Bloss said the Centro Christiano Church shares the building and their praise band and dancers will be one of the acts in the show. “We’ve timed this so that we’re hoping our summer citizens will have an opportunity to come see us. Also, it’s before the Lyric and Utah Festival Opera seasons begin so we’re hoping to provide a fun evening for many.”
