Not only was Monday the Memorial Day holiday, but also the opening of the Noon Music at the Tabernacle concert series. The program, which is sponsored by the Tabernacle Concert and Lecture Series, opened with a concert by the Michael Ballam family. Ballam is founder and general director of the Utah Festival Opera Company. He performed along with his daughter Vanessa Ballam, who will star in two of the operas this summer. She has also recently been hired by the USU Music Department. Vanerssa’s husband, Stephan, and sister Olivia Ballam were also part of the Monday concert. The Opera Company will continue to present a concert each Monday at noon through the summer.Other concerts this week include the Lightwood Duo on Tuesday, Corey Christiansen on the guitar Wednesday, vocalist Annie Finerson Thursday, Jeremy Threlfall Friday and the Westminster Bell Choir on Saturday.
