USU student named as finalist for Utah student regent

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Student Association has named its three finalists for the student spot on the Utah State Board of Regents. Sarah Day, Spencer Lee and David Smith were selected by the state’s student body leaders as finalists. Their names and have been forwarded to Gov. Gary Herbert, who will make the final selection. Day is a political science student at the University of Utah, Lee is a history student at Utah State University and Smith is enrolled in the econometrics master’s degree program at the University of Utah. The new student regent will replace Jeffrey Kinsel, a student at Southern Utah University. The student regent is a full voting member of the State Board of Regents and serves a one-year term.
