Utah gas prices drop, still 3rd highest

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A new report says gas prices in Utah are 16 cents lower this month than they were in May. AAA Utah says the state’s average gas price of $2.98 per gallon dropped 16 cents since prices were last surveyed on May 11. AAA says the cost of gas is 49 cents higher than a year ago. Last month, Utah’s price was the fifth highest in the country. Now, it’s the third highest behind California and Washington. According to AAA, the current national average price for regular, self-serve gasoline is $2.72. This is down 18 cents from a month ago and 10 cents higher than a year ago.
