Republican leaders worry about low voter turnout

Low interest in early voting is causing Republican party officials to fear there will be a low turnout in the party’s primary election on Tuesday, June 22.Cache County Clerk Jill Zollinger says early voting started Tuesday, June 8 and only 91 people had cast their ballots by 12 noon on Thursday.Cache County Republican Party Chairman David James has a message for registered Republicans: this not a year to sit on the back bench.”Learn about these candidates and get out to vote,” James encourages. “This is a time for us to express our opinions. “Low voter turnout, too often, has been a signal to politicians that the electorate doesn’t care. Don’t let that happen.”Early voting continues through June 18.
