Sidwell: all artists for Summerfest will be juried

It is considered by many to be the most popular local event of the summer. The Summerfest Art Fair will be held June 17-19 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the Logan Tabernacle grounds. Summerfest Executive Director Mary Ann Sidwell says artists will have their booths open until 8 p.m. each evening. “We have more than 150 artists this year, all different categories” Sidwell says. “A great variety of fine art to small items to fine craft. We have leather, we have metal, wood. “I think our visitors to Summerfest are going to be very pleased to find what kind of artists are there. Every artist is juried by an independent committee. You cannot get into Summerfest without having been seen by a jury.” Sidwell says more than half of the artists have been here before. She says Summerfest will also include talented entertainers and a wide variety of food vendors along with a host of children’s activities. Sidwell says prior to everything happening on the tabernacle grounds, two contests are being held in conjunction with Summerfest. She says the fourth annual Plein Air contest begins Monday, June 14 where fantastic artists go out some place in Cache Valley to paint. Those paintings are to be returned for a juried competition. Additionally, Sidwell says this year the first-ever Summerfest Photography Contest is being held, and the contest will mostly involve digital photographers. She says it is sponsored by the Cache Valley Photographers organization and has the same deadlines as the Plein Air contest.
