Avon man injured in hang gliding crash

A 54-year-old Avon man was injured in a hang glider crash on the south end of the valley Thursday afternoon.James Dobson took his hang glider off the side of the mountain but reportedly failed to catch enough wind and current and started to go down, crashing near 7400 South and 1500 East. The wind he did have kept him in the air until he was approximately 20 feet from the ground, at which point the glider lost all momentum and went down. The incident was reported by his wife after she was notified by the victim on his cellular phone. When deputies arrived, they found Dobson laying under the hang glider complaining of back and neck pain. He was transported to Logan Regional Hospital by ambulance crews.
