New hospital CEO wants to improve patient care

Michael A. Clark took over his new job Thursday, one day after being appointed as new Logan Regional Hospital Chief Executive Officer/Administrator. Clark has more than 15 years of leadership experience in the healthcare industry according to Timothy T. Pehrson, CEO and President Intermountain Healthcare Urban North Region. For the past five years Clark has served as operations officer at Logan Regional and he was instrumental in bringing healthcare improvements to Cache Valley, including the Logan Regional Cancer Center, the new Women and Newborn Center, digital mammography and other advanced imaging services. At a news conference Thursday, Clark expressed excitement about his new job. “The most pressing goal is to continue and improve our patient care,” said Clark. “I’d like to have the best hospital in the state as far as the quality of care we provide and our patients’ perception of that quality. Those are the two most important goals and everything else will drive those I hope. The other things that we do will drive those.” Clark also indicated that while significant improvements have been made lately at the Logan hospital, more are on their way. “One of the other construction things we’re doing,” he said, “is preparing to get a second MRI in the hospital and that will be ready to go about mid-August.” Before joining the Logan Regional Hospital leadership team in 2005, Clark served as Executive Director of Operational Services at Kingman Regional Medical Center in Arizona.
