6th annual Art on the Lawn event on slate for weekend

Once again the Dean F. and Bessie C. Peterson Foundation is hosting “Art on the Lawn,” and interactive Cache Valley art event that gets more popular every year. Founder and director Lucy Peterson Watkins says the sixth-annual event will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the lawn of the home she inherited in North Logan at 1491 E. 2300 North. The event will feature the same open-air, casual art viewing as in years past, but will also have a new feature this year: A Friday opening for silent auction items. “The old house art show and silent auction will be starting at 2 p.m. on Friday,” Watkins said. “So people who want to come look at the art, it will just be the house and the silent auction … if they want to make a bid and buy some art, of course we would encourage that.” Watkins said some of the area’s most talented artists will be presenting their work both on the lawn and in the old home. The chili cookout starts at 4 p.m. where ceramic bowls will be for sale for $10 from Lee Burningham’s Logan High School students. Watkins said the foundation has given at least $40,000 to local organizations since it began.
