Count the Cache Chamber of Commerce as one organization who would really like to see a long-time advertising banner return to Main Street in Logan’s downtown.Chamber CEO Sandy Emile called for the return of the banner during a radio appearance Tuesday morning, saying her office has fielded calls from several people in the community asking if the banner, which advertised community events from demolition derbies to operas to concerts, will ever return.Logan city officials removed the banner earlier this year citing liability and safety concerns. The issue of replacing the banner in one form or another will be on the agenda at a future Logan Municipal Council meeting.”I think that there must be a compromise on what the citizens want and what the city can provide,” Emile said. “Maybe we can get the banner back.”Emile said the business community voted unanimously in support of returning the banner to Main Street at a recent Chamber meeting. She acknowledged that there appear to be some “wonderful alternatives” to the banner that could allow the reinstatement of something very similar to the old banner, which was a 4-by-45-foot banner with 320-square feet of surface area. “It had a lot of resources and information that it provided to our community,” Emile said. “I really hope that this will get back in place.”
