The City of Logan is pleased to offer a limited number of trees that are now available for neighborhood beautification around the City. The trees, of several different species, can be planted in the City right-of-way area between the sidewalk and curb in front of the residence. The type of tree to be planted will be determined jointly by the landowner and the Logan City Forester, on the basis of enhancing the existing trees and general character of the particular neighborhood. The planting site must, of course, be within Logan City limits and must be wide enough (usually greater than five feet) to maintain a healthy tree. The resident/landowner will also assume the responsibility for watering the new tree(s) and maintaining a bare space around the base of the trunk of each tree. The trees will be planted by volunteers – primarily Boy Scout groups. At this time, the City of Logan has a list of young men who are willing and able to provide a service group to plant the trees as part of working toward the rank of Eagle Scout. The City of Logan encourages residents to participate in this effort to make our community even more beautiful and healthy. For more information or to discuss the opportunity to have trees planted in the City right-of-way near your home, please contact the Logan City Forester, Joe Archer, at 716-9749.
