Lewiston celebrating Independence Day on the 5th

Lewiston is celebrating July 4th a day late for its annual city celebration. Although festivities will begin with a comedy show Friday and a rodeo and softball tournament Saturday, Lewiston has delayed their day-long celebration, along with their ‘famous’ parade, until Monday the 5th. “We have lots of visitors to our town for this,” says Lewiston Mayor Kelly Field. “In fact, people are trying to grab their spots for the parade. They’ll park a trailer or car, something like that.” The parade is a community tradition dating back since nearly the town’s beginning, Field says, but no one’s exactly sure. Activities such as the pancake breakfast, three-on-three basketball tournament, one mile walk, 5k, and 10k races, family movies, and the rodeo are just a few of the things happening on Monday. After it gets dark the town will feature a fireworks show on the city’s fields. “It’s a small town,” says Fields, “but a great celebration.”
