Arizona’s immigration law has the full support of likely new Republican U.S. Senator Mike Lee, expected to defeat Democrat challenger Sam Granato in the November election.Lee says not only does he support the Arizona law but he also feels we need to close the birthright citizenship loophole.”There’s legislation pending in Congress right now,House Resolution 1868, that would make exactly that point,” Lee explains. “A person born on U.S. soil becomes a citizen automatically by virtue of birth in the United States if, and only if, that person at the time of birth had at least one parent who was either a citizen or a lawful-permanent resident or an immigrant involved in active, full-time military service at the time of the birth.” Utah is one of several states looking at the idea of adopting a bill similar to that of Arizona.
