A crowd of 300 is expected Saturday night at a gala dinner at the Riverwoods Conference Center to benefit the Utah Festival Opera Company. The dinner and silent auction begin at 5 p.m. followed by a performance of Guys and Dolls at 7:30 p.m. at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in downtown Logan. UFOC spokeswoman Kree Lindsey said the evening remembers the 100th birthday of composer Frank Loesser. “It begins with a wonderful dinner prepared by the Riverwoods staff and later in the evening a performance of Guys and Dolls at the Eccles Theatre. We have chosen to honor Mr. Loesser’s 100th birthday. He wrote over 700 songs but some of his most memorable ones came from Guys and Dolls. “In the show Sky Masterson, the lead character, tries to win a bet and he takes Lady Sarah Brown to Havana. We’ve chosen this scene from the play as the theme of the dinner because it is so exotic. The three-course meal is being prepared by Elements Chef Dustin McKay with a Havana experience and flavor.” Lindsey said nearly 300 tickets have been sold which is three times the amount, which normally attend the event. Tickets are $125 each which includes the dinner and premium seats to Saturday night’s performance of Guys and Dolls. The UFOC Box Office has more ticket information at 1-800-262-0074. The evening includes a silent auction.
