The Utah Farm Bureau’s annual mid-year conference opens Thursday and continues Friday at the Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan. One of the highlights comes today at 4:15 p.m. when Salt Lake County Mayor and Democratic candidate for governor Peter Corroon and Lt. Governor Greg Bell participate in a discussion on Agriculture and Rural Utah. Bell will be filling in for Governor Gary Herbert. Utah Farm Bureau President Leland Hogan will welcome those attending the conference. The topic of his opening speech is Securing A Better Tomorrow. Hogan says the mid-year conference is when Utah’s farmers and ranchers discuss issues related to Utah’s agricultural economy and formulate policy recommendations to address needs. The recommendations will be further discussed at the Utah Farm Bureau’s Annual Convention in November.
