Gardeners market in Logan now taking food stamps

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Families that use food stamps can now get fresh produce at the Cache Valley Gardeners’ Market in Logan.On Saturday one volunteer reported processing about $100 in food stamp benefits using a wireless terminal that also takes credit and debit cards.The food stamp benefits cover only the purchase of food or vegetable seeds and plants.Since opening for the season on May 8, the market has seen about $2,100 in sales from food stamp recipients.One booth worker said accepting food stamps is a good idea because it allows people to get higher-quality and fresher food.
