Preston student athletes will have to ‘pay to play’

From now on athletic programs in the Preston School District will be funded by student fees. The school board voted unanimously in favor of the “pay to play” plan at its latest meeting. According to the Preston Citizen, for a student running cross country the cost will be $167, for volleyball and basketball the fee is $223.40 and for students participating in track the cost is $41.95 A public hearing was held prior to the unanimous vote.
