Franklin County residents have approved a $129,000 library over-ride election by a vote of 449 to 84. Approval of the two-year override does not raises taxes and it will allow services to continue at the present level. In May, voters turned down a permanent over-ride which would have required a two-thirds majority of votes. This time only a simple majority was needed but residents will be asked to vote again in two years. Prior to the vote, members of the Friends of the Library had said that without the over-ride election approval, library hours and staff levels would have to be reduced.
