Kyle Lindsay, on the job as Logan’s fire chief for fewer than two months, resigned the position last Wednesday and will serve a court summons Aug. 17.An investigation was completed by the Smithfield Police Department and then filed with the Cache County Attorney’s office at 1 p.m. Aug. 10. According to James Swink, Deputy Cache County Attorney, Lindsay has been served a summons to appear in court on three charges: burglary, possession or use of hydrocodone within 1,000 feet of a church – both second degree felonies – and obtaining a prescription under false pretenses – a third degree felony. Lindsay was hired earlier this year to replace Mark Meaker as Logan’s top fireman. Logan city officials sent a press release to media outlets just after 2 p.m. Wednesday announcing the resignation.”Effective August 4, 2010, Kyle Lindsay resigned as Fire Chief for the City of Logan for personal reasons,” the release read. “Effective immediately, Deputy Chief Jeff Peterson will serve as the Interim Chief until a replacement can be appointed.”Lindsay, 41, started at the Logan department in June after moving here from Idaho.
