Mountain Crest to represent state in D.C. parade

HYRUM, Utah (AP) – Mountain Crest High School’s marching band will represent Utah in Washington, D.C., during the National Independence Day parade next summer.The Herald Journal of Logan reported Sunday the four-section band was nominated by Gov. Gary Herbert to perform in the parade.Jason Petrovich, director of the Mountain Crest marching band, says students are excited about the opportunity.He said Mountain Crest has been invited to attend the Fourth of July celebration before, but he has declined those invitations because of finances or other conflicts.Students are in charge of raising money for their trip.More than 100 Mountain Crest students are scheduled to participate in the parade.
