Cache County bans Spice

Synthetic marijuana, commonly known as Spice, is now banned in Cache County. An ordinance banning the substance was unanimously passed during a Cache County Council meeting Tuesday.”I just wish we didn’t have to legislate people out of stupidity,” Councilmember Cory Yeates said. The Council has done its research regarding Spice. Members met with the Logan Municipal Council August 31 to talk about Spice and has also held discussions with law enforcement, university professors and others when considering the ordinance.Councilmember Gordon Zilles said Spice is an issue that affects the youth and the community. Not only does taking the synthetic marijuana cause danger to the user’s health, Zilles said, but it creates liability for everyone else when the user is unhealthy or making choices while influenced.”I know it’s pretty sad when you take it and you get wound up enough that you go out and shoot your neighbor’s goat. That’s crossing the line,” Zilles said to laughs from the council. “Better a goat than the neighbor himself.”
