Logan Mayor Randy Watts, a registered Republican, has endorsed Democrat Sam Granato, the Democratic candidate running for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Republican Bob Bennett.Watts says he decided to endorse Granato after the two got together for a meeting during the League of Cities and Towns convention last week.”He’s a lot like I am,” Watts says. “He’s a businessman. He’s not a politician but he understands the plight of cities and the need for federal fundings to continue. “And Sam basically says, ‘I will be the Bennett that we lost.’ I know the Tea Party people feel that it’s good to have an incumbent like Bennett gone. I feel quite the contrary.” Watts says Republican candidate Mike Lee has made it clear that if he is elected he would do all he could to get rid of so-called ‘earmarks.’ Watts says Logan City would be dead without federal funding and he encourages other local residents to support Granato for Senate.
