Covey highlights Business Week at USU

Students from the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at the Utah State University are inviting the community to celebrate Business Week with them. They say the celebration is much bigger than it has ever before. The celebration includes a concert, barbecue, relay race, dance marathon, golf tournament and a free lecture by Stephen R. Covey, international best-selling author who became the Jon M. Huntsman Professor of Leadership at USU in February of this year.Steve Eaton, Director of Communication for the Huntsman School of Business, says Covey will speak at a special Dean’s Convocation on Thursday, Sept. 30, 3:30 p.m. in the Performance Hall. Eaton says Covey’s topic will be Principle-Centered Leadership–the Way to a Great Career and Life.”He’s recently written a book with Jennifer Colosimo,” Eaton says, “called ‘Great Work, Great Career.’ It’s required reading at the Huntsman School of Business. “The book simply emphasizes the importance of making a contribution in the workplace. He’ll be emphasizing how being a principle-centered leader can lead to having a great work and great career.”Among his best-selling books, Covey is best known for his Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.Roger Martin, author of The Design of Business, will speak at a Sept. 28 Dean’s Convocation and Henry J. Eyring, Advancement Vice President at BYU-Idaho, will speak at a third Dean’s Convocation on Oct. 1.Most of the other Business Week activities are fundraisers for the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
