Tickets are still available for the Choral Music of Mack Wilberg, a performance by the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 9, 7:30 p.m. in the Kent Concert Hall at Utah State University.Craig Jessop, music director of the American Festival Chorus and Dean of the Caine College of the Arts, says Mack Wilberg is one of the pre-eminent choral composers and arrangers in America today. In fact, he says, Wilberg is one of the most highly sought after composers in the nation.The Saturday performance includes a potpourri of Wilberg’s arrangements and original compositions with American folk tunes, hymns and even Christmas songs. A highlight is Atlantic Bridge, a piece Wilberg wrote for the King’s Singers, Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Utah Symphony Orchestra for the 1997 Tanner Gift of Music. Jessop premiered the work when he was associate director of the Tabernacle Choir. Jessop and Wilberg have worked together extensively and Wilberg will guest conduct the final four numbers on the program.
