The Mountain Crest football game scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 13 has been canceled. The Mustangs were scheduled to host Springville on the short UEA week but both schools decided to cancel the game. Mountain Crest head coach Mark Wootton reportedly discussed the game with Springville head coach Scott Mitchell over the weekend. With Mountain Crest (6-2, 3-1) facing valley rival Sky View (3-5, 2-2) next week, in what could be a critical game for the Mustangs to make the state playoffs, and with Springville (7-1, 4-0) having their region pretty much wrapped up both coaches decided to let their respective team captains decide whether or not to play the non-region game this week. Coaches and players unanimously agreed on Monday morning to cancel the game and prepare for the following week’s opponent. Mountain Crest hosts Sky View while Springville travels to Salem Hills. Both games will be played Thursday, Oct. 21.
