MILLVILLE – The Planning Commission is rewriting the ordinance requiring property developers to give up water shares in order to comply with a new state law. The commission discussed the ordinance that currently requires people developing property to give up one water share for every acre at a meeting Thursday night. Planning Commissioner Jim Hart said the ordinance shouldn’t be based on an acre, it should be based on the impact the new household has on Millville’s water supply. “We need to make it so it’s fair,” Hart said. The ordinance is being altered because it doesn’t say why water shares must be given up and it does not comply with the state law now.
