In an attempt to catch up with former Utah State Aggie basketball player Jared Quayle, KVNU sports producer John Newbold tried to make contact with representatives of his new team in Belgium. As it turns out, Quayle wasn’t there any more. “I’m very sorry to let you know that Jared left our team last Wednesday,” says Erwin Van Achten in an email exchange. “He couldn’t adapt being away from home and this made him play under his normal level. We still believe he is a marvelous player and we’re very sorry that we had to let him go. Being homesick does funny things with a basketball player. “We hope that Jared can load himself up again and that he still can make a good career for himself.” Quayle is now reportedly back in Utah. Coincidentally enough, this very same team, Leuven Bears, has just reached an agreement with another former Aggie, Cassiano Matheus.
