Logan downtown hosting trick or treat walk

The Logan City Downtown Halloween Treat Walk is this weekend sponsored by the Logan Downtown Alliance. “This is a tradition that has been going on about 10 years now,” said Downtown Alliance President Joe Needham. “This time it is on Saturday, usually it’s always on Halloween, but this year Halloween is on Sunday. It’s always a lot of fun.” The event takes place 1-4 p.m. Saturday. “This is just in downtown Logan, in the historic area,” said Needham. “You’ll see the stores participating will have posters advertising it in their windows. So it is an opportunity for the kids to go store-to-store, trick or treating in the daylight. “We will have several Disney characters walking the sidewalks handing out candy, as well, plus many of the merchants and their staffs will be in costume.” Needham said last year’s event drew about 4,000 people to downtown and another large crowd is expected Saturday. He said there is a high rate of merchant participation and businesses involved know when to display the poster and to be ready with a lot of candy in their stores.
