Utah’s two House Republicans will play key roles in the transition of power from Democrats to the GOP in the coming weeks. Republican leaders have tapped Utah 1st District Congressman Rob Bishop and 3rd District Congressman Jason Chaffetz to join the 21-person Majority Transition Committee following the GOP’s massive election day gains. Chaffetz says it is an honor to be participating and he feels there are minority rights that need to be implemented. For example, he wants the GOP to make it easier for the Minority party to amend bills on the hill. Chaffetz also endorsed a plan pushed by Bishop to allow for longer work weeks in Washington in exchange for a full week in their home districts each month.
