Providence man struck and killed in intersection

A 72 year-old Providence man was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a car while crossing the street at 1200 South State Road 165 in Logan. Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Phil Rawlinson identified the victim as Ben F. Turman. The trooper says Turman was crossing eastbound at the crosswalk at 1200 South and State Road 165 on the north side of the intersection. Rawlinson says the pedestrian did not have the right of way and the traffic light was green for northbound and southbound traffic.Turman was struck by a car traveling north in the outside lane driven by Amber Jensen who saw the pedestrian in front of her veicle but was unable to stop or avoid the pedestrian. Turman was taken to Logan Regional Hospital where he died several hours later. Several witnesses confirmed that the vehicle had the right of way. The accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m.
