Transit manager saddened by driver’s death

The general manager of the Cache Valley Transit District says he and others with the district are saddened by the death of a driver who died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at Logan Regional Hospital after losing consciousness just before starting his route.Todd Beutler expressed concern for the family of the man whose name has not yet been released. He says the driver had performed a great service to the district for more than a year and was fully qualified.”All the drivers that are employed with the transit district are required to carry what they call a Department of Transportation Physical Card,” Buetler explains, “which means before we can put them in service they have to pass a physical that passes federal government requirements. “All of our drivers carry that. If they can’t pass that they can’t drive.” Beutler says losing the driver is tragic but it was very fortunate that the incident happened before the bus left the transit center to begin its route.
