Lemon: pay raises not across board, based on market and performance

Notwithstanding the sluggish economy, most Cache County employees are expected to get a pay raise in the proposed 2011 budget. Cache County Executive Lynn Lemon’s proposed budget recommends a raise and sets aside up to $263,000 for the pay hikes. Lemon says it would not be across the board salary increases, but instead would be case by case based on both market and performance. “There are situations there,” Lemon explained to the council, “where if an employee pay was 107% of market, there may not be any increase proposed for them. “It’s not just we’re providing a one percent increase or we’re providing a one-and-a-half percent increase, or whatever it might be.” Lemon says the employees have worked hard to help the county save money over the past year. He has not yet made recommendations on elected officials’ salaries.
