Most know by now that a big storm is expected to come in Tuesday afternoon. Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) spokesman Vic Saunders said that’s always a major concern to UDOT as it strives to keep the highways safe.UDOT has its own weather team, which Saunders said has been remarkably accurate in predicting major storms like the one anticipated for today.”With this storm that’s forecast to arrive this afternoon, we know that high winds are forecast, we know that heavy snow is forecast,” he said. “Our managers of our stations have been conserving their crews, have been giving them time off in advance of it so they will have plenty of time to work during the storm. They have been out spraying saline substances on the road to help prevent ice from occurring.”Saunders said business owners are encouraged to send their employees home early in advance of what appears to be a major major winter storm event at approximately 4 p.m.
