Beaver Mountain announces Dec. 3 as opening day

It will be one of the earliest openings in Beaver Mountain history when the ski resort in Logan Canyon opens Friday, Dec. 3. “We’re going to open with 38 inches of new snow and things are extremely well covered,” owner Ted Seeholzer said Tuesday, before more storms were expected to move into the area.” Routinely Beaver Mountain opens the second or third week of December. Seeholzer said many skiers appreciate the mountain opening in time for the Christmas holidays. “It’s when people have time off and when they want to go play and enjoy the out of doors. We’re anticipating a fantastic year, season pass sales are good.” Seeholzer said there were no new uphill conveyances built during the off-season. “We did buy a new snow machine and a new groomer,” said Seeholzer. “We painted the Little Beaver lift and Face lift and that was a cost of $44,000. We anticipate doing quite a bit the next few years as far as buildings are concerned. We have our master plan approved and we want to get hot after it and make sure we’re taking the right steps.” More Beaver Mountain information is available at www.skithebeav.com.
