SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – A new report says Utah remains one of the 10 best states for health and medical care. Utah ranked seventh in the latest “America’s Health Rankings” report from the United Health Foundation. Last year, Utah came in second place. The report was released Tuesday. Boosting the rankings was the low prevalence of smoking and binge drinking in Utah, where about 60 percent of the population are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church tells its members not to smoke or drink alcohol. Overall, Utah ranked in the top 10 for 10 of the 22 categories for personal health. Challenges facing the state include the small number of primary care physicians and low public health funding.
