MC 48, Snow Canyon 36After trailing by two at the end of the first quarter, Mountain Crest turned up the heat on Snow Canyon and never looks back. To start out the second quarter, the Mustangs went on a 12 point run and didn’t trail after. Mountain Crest got their third straight win in by a final score of 48-36.-Todd OlsenBear River 49, Herriman 52For the Bear River Boys basketball team, this season has been one of lessons being learned one game after the other. Herriman came away with a 52-49 victory. Bear River had many chances to come away with a win, though many Bear fans may feel that the free throw discrepancy favoring Herriman should shoulder much of the blame. But even if the Bears got to the line they didn’t help themselves by shooting 7-15 while Herriman was 14-18. While Herriman picked up their first win of the season, the Bears continue to search for their first. The Bears will have another shot Saturday against Carbon at 4:30 pm.Bear River 64, Carbon 47After five tough losses, and some hard lessons learned in each of them, the Bear River boys took it to a team for once and came away with their first victory of the season with a 64-47 drubbing of Carbon. Carbon falls to 2-2, and the Bears move to 1-5. Brady Miller scored 16 points, and led a third quarter surge that ended with a 15-5 run and a comfortable 19 point lead heading into the final frame. Kade Cadner had 10 points, Wade Miller had 9 and Brady Eschlin had 9 as well. Bears will try and ride this momentum into their Tuesday game which will be a makeup game at Mountain View. Their other game will be Friday night in Garland against the Logan Grizzlies. -Ajay Salveson
