Evergreens stolen from Logan cemetery

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Authorities in Logan say vandals have taken several items from the Logan cemetery, including two pine trees cut down and hauled away – maybe for use as Christmas trees. Logan Cemetery Sexton Seth Sparks says the trees disappeared last week, along with two directory books normally left at the cemetery entrance to help visitors find gravesites. The cemetery is surrounded by Utah State University. Logan Parks and Recreation Director Russ Akina says it seems pretty low for someone to take cemetery trees. He says police are increasing patrols nearby, but authorities aren’t planning to lock cemetery gates to prevent students from walking between campus buildings and dorms.
