UPDATE: Mendon siblings die in Saturday morning traffic accident

Slushy road conditions contributed to a crash in Cache County Saturday morning that killed two siblings. A Honda Civic driven by 18-year-old Ashlyn Ferguson from Mendon with three siblings in the vehicle – M’gwire, Bridger and Savanah – traveling north on SR 165 in front of Zions Bank and Edwards Furniture in Providence, spun out of control into southbound lanes where it was t-boned by another vehicle at approximately 11:20 a.m.According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, 7-year-old M’gwire was killed upon impact when Ashlyn’s vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 53-year-old Jan Lindley of Hyrum. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Bridger, 10, was transported to Primary Children’s Medical Center and died just before 9:00 p.m. Saturday as a result of head injuries sustained in the crash. He was wearing his seat belt.Savanah, 9, was also transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. Representatives from the Utah Highway Patrol said morning snow, heavy rain and icy roads contributed to numerous highway accidents Saturday. On Cache County highways alone there were four accidents without injuries, two slide offs and one other crash with injuries. Slick roads have also contributed to many slide off accidents on city streets, and drivers are warned to be cautious.
