LOGAN, Utah – For the second-straight week, Utah State’s Tai Wesley is leading the nation in field goal shooting after making 8-of-10 shots in his last game, while Utah State is once again receiving votes in both polls. Wesley, a 6-7, 240-pound forward from Provo, Utah (Provo HS) is currently shooting 66.7 percent from the field (84-126) to rank first in the nation. Wesley also ranks third in the Western Athletic Conference in rebounding (8.6), fourth in blocked shots (1.13), fifth in scoring (15.2), 11th in assists (2.69) and 15th in free throw shooting (.709). Wesley scored 21 points in his last game, including 15 in the second-half, leading Utah State to an 81-67 road win at Nevada. Wesley added eight rebounds and three assists against the Wolf Pack. After winning its ninth-straight game last weekend, which is a season-high, Utah State is once again receiving votes in both polls as it garnered nine votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and four votes in the Associated Press Poll. Overall, USU is currently tied with Arizona and Gonzaga for 35th in the nation in the coaches poll and tied with Old Dominion, St. John’s and Tennessee for 39th in the AP poll. As a team, Utah State currently ranks seventh in the nation in rebounding margin (+9.5), 13th in winning percentage (.875), 19th in scoring defense (59.4), 26th in fewest turnovers per game (11.6) and 27th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.30). USU’s 14 wins are tied for the 11th-most in the country, while its current nine-game winning streak is tied for the 11th-longest active streak in the nation. Utah State (14-2, 3-0) will play a pair of road games this week at Boise State (11-5, 4-0) on Thursday, Jan. 13 at 8:15 p.m (MT), and at Fresno State (7-7, 3-1) on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. (MT). – USU –
