Aggies Women’s Tennis Stampede Over Bengals, 7-0, In Tuesday’s Season Opener Win

POCATELLO, Idaho — Utah State women’s tennis team opened the season with a statement against the Idaho State women’s team. The Aggies recorded six straight-set victories en route to sweeping the singles action and took the doubles point by winning all three doubles matches, all by the score of 8-3.It was a total team effort from the Aggies in Pocatello Tuesday, from sophomore Jaclyn West in the No. 1 spot to junior Brianna Harris in the No. 6 spot; the Aggies took care of business. In the No. 5, spot junior Julie Tukuafu never lost a game, winning 6-0, 6-0. Senior Hailey Swenson held junior Rilee Moorhead of Idaho State to one point in their singles match-up. Harris brought the excitement for the night in a first set tie-break battle with Idaho State’s freshman Laura Severino, which was ultimately won by Harris, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1. Also recording straight-set wins were sophomore Kristina Voytsekhovich and sophomore Romina Nedakovic. Up next the Aggies will play host to Boise State, who is ranked No. 38 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and are 2-0 on this season. The match will take place Friday, Feb. 4, at the Sport Academy and Racquet Club, admission will be free and open to the public.
