#25 Aggies escape Hawaii in double overtime, 89-84

HONOLULU — Brian Green scored 22 points to lead Utah State to a 89-84 double-overtime win over Hawaii on Saturday night. Tyler Newbold added 17 points and Brady Jardine scored 13 for the Aggies (20-2, 9-0 WAC), who won their 15th consecutive game. Tai Wesley scored 10 of his 12 points after halftime and Brockeith Pane added 11 for Utah State. After Green’s 3-pointer tied it at 73 and forced the second overtime, the Aggies scored the first four points of the period. But Hawaii (12-9, 3-6) went up 80-79 with 2:22 left on Zane Johnson’s 3-pointer. Utah State pulled ahead 83-81 on Pane’s running banker with 30 seconds to play. The Rainbow Warriors pulled within one with less than 10 seconds left, but the Aggies made all six of their free throws down the stretch. Johnson scored a game-high 25 points for Hawaii. Bill Amis and Jeremiah Ostrowski added 15 apiece.
