WH: Ambassador Huntsman to leave China post

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House says U.S. ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, a Republican, has advised officials that he intends to leave the post during the first part of this year. Huntsman is considered a potential GOP presidential candidate.Huntsman is a former governor of Utah and was appointed ambassador by President Barack Obama in 2009.White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Huntsman has informed White House officials of his desire to leave. A person familiar with Huntsman’s thinking said he would likely return to the United State in late spring or early summer. This person said Huntsman has not made a decision about running for president.The individual spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak publicly for Huntsman.
