For the first time ever the Chinese New Year is being celebrated in Cache Valley and the event is hosted by the Little Bloomsbury Foundation. The Foundation’s executive director, Dr. Brenda Sun, says the celebration is all about the year of the rabbit. Next year it will be all about dragons, according to the Chinese Zodiac sign.Sun says many people and businesses have joined hands to make this a huge celebration which starts Friday and Saturday and continues next weekend. On KVNUs Crosstalk show Thursday, Sun said world-renowned magician Richard Hatch is a big part of the celebration because it has to be about magic.”It has to be about storytelling,” Sun continued. “It has to be art and nutrition, diet and all the wonderful things we can learn from the Chinese.”People can celebrate the Chinese New Year Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the North Logan Library and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Logan Library.Sun says the party will take place at various other local points during the two-week period. She says the activity is to help promote cultural understanding and community building and to inspire everybody to study hard, eat well, exercise well and, importantly, save money for rainy days.
