Kyle Lindsay is going to have a chance to re-earn his wings. That’s the way Logan Mayor Randy Watts described his decision to hire the former Logan Fire Chief, this time as Assistant Fire Chief. Lindsay was hired as fire chief last August but he resigned less than two months later after being arrested on illegal prescription drug charges.Former Assistant Chief Jeff Peterson was named Fire Chief less than two weeks ago and Wednesday, Feb. 9 Lindsay began work as his replacement.Mayor Watts says he believes almost all of us make mistakes.”Kyle made a big mistake,” Watts says. “He’s gone through the process of the courts and worked through those problems. I as the mayor of Logan feel that he is absolutely worth a second chance.”He’ll be an asset. He was an asset coming in when he was the chief for that month-and-a-half, two months, and he’ll be an asset bringing him back.”Watts says Lindsay has special expertise and experience in EMS, having worked in Idaho before coming to Logan. Watts says much of Lindsay’s work will be on the training side. Watts also says he feels strongly the new assistant chief will re-gain his credibility with the department and with the public. Chief Peterson says he is pleased to have Lindsay as his assistant chief and agreed that people need to be given a second chance.
