Fee increases proposed for power, zoo

Logan Light and Power Director Jeff White says he has been trying very hard for a long time to avoid an increase in electrical power rates. But White told members of the Logan Municipal Council during a budget workshop Tuesday that it looks like this is the year the rates really need to go up. White says the cost of buying power has gone up especially for renewables such as fossil fuels. The increase White proposed would amount to approximately $8 a month to the average residential customer. Meanwhile, during the regular council meeting, council members voted unanimously to raise the cost of admission to the Willow Park Zoo from 50 cents to $1 for children and $1 to $2 for adults. From now on the admission fee will be mandatory rather than a proposed donation.
