Man accused of rape arrested after being on the run

A 19-year old man sought in a nearly year-old rape case was arrested Saturday night in Logan. Randall T. Shields is charged with felony rape and possession of a controlled substance. Logan Police Assistant Chief Jeff Curtis says the incident allegedly happened in February 2010, but Shields went on the run and officers weren’t able to catch up with him until over the weekend. Shields allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year old girl and supplied her with alcohol. Curtis says the incident actually happened in Hyrum but Logan PD was asked by the sheriff’s office to take the case since they were working on connected cases at the time.
